‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ to Shift to Friday Nights

The “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” is making a big move on NBC. The drama series is being shifted from its current Sunday night timeslot to Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT starting on April 4. This move often signals trouble for a show, as a switch to Fridays midway through a season usually means cancellation is looming. However, NBC has had success with comedy programming on Friday nights, such as the renewal of “Happy’s Place” starring Reba McEntire for a second season.

Despite receiving decent reviews, “Grosse Pointe” has struggled to make a significant impact in the ratings. The pilot episode has seen growth in the adults 18-49 demographic and total viewers across all platforms since its premiere on Feb. 23. However, the most recent Nielsen Live+7 data shows a modest increase in viewership after seven days of playback, not accounting for viewers on the streaming platform Peacock.

The show was part of NBC’s midseason lineup, alongside dramas “Suits: LA” and “The Hunting Party.” The official description of “Grosse Pointe” promises intrigue as it follows four members of a suburban garden club whose lives become entangled by scandal, mischief, and a shared secret involving a murder no one wants to discuss. As their dark truths come to light, they struggle to maintain the facade of perfection.

The talented cast includes Melissa Fumero from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” along with Aja Naomi King, Ben Rappaport, AnnaSophia Robb, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis, and Felix Wolfe. The series was created by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, who also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers, with Casey Kyber as an additional executive producer. Universal Television is the studio behind the production.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding its future, “Grosse Pointe” continues to captivate viewers with its gripping storyline and talented ensemble cast. Fans will have to tune in on Fridays to see how the drama unfolds in the garden society.
