High-stakes Paramount, Trump mediation scheduled as prez’s ’60 Minutes’ lawsuit looms

Paramount and President Trump’s Representatives Set to Meet Before Mediator
Paramount and representatives of President Trump are scheduled to meet Wednesday before a mediator who will determine the fate of Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit against CBS, The Post has learned.
This meeting comes amidst Paramount’s $8 billion merger with independent studio Skydance and the need for approval from Trump’s Federal Communications Commission. Resolving the lawsuit is seen as a way to expedite the approval process, although the outcome is uncertain.
Shari Redstone, the controlling shareholder of Paramount, is inclined towards settling the case to meet demands by the Trump FCC and push the deal through the regulatory approval process.
Conservatives have raised concerns about political bias in programming at CBS and “60 Minutes,” prompting an FCC probe into the matter.
If the mediator rules in favor of Trump, it could lead to financial and reputational consequences for Paramount. However, Redstone is seeking a resolution that would not significantly impact the Skydance deal.
Insiders are hopeful for a settlement similar to ABC’s agreement in a defamation case brought by Trump, involving a monetary settlement and an apology.
