Hospital-At-Home Startups Medically Home And DispatchHealth To Merge

DispatchHealth and Medically Home Announce Merger

Denver-based DispatchHealth and Boston-based Medically Home, companies specializing in delivering hospital-level care at home, have recently announced their decision to merge. This strategic move is expected to enhance the delivery of high acuity care directly to patients’ homes, revolutionizing the healthcare industry.

The merger, set to be finalized mid-year 2025, will see Medically Home becoming part of DispatchHealth. The financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed by the parties involved.

Advancing Healthcare Delivery

As the healthcare landscape evolves, the demand for innovative care delivery models has been amplified, especially in light of the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Both DispatchHealth and Medically Home have been at the forefront of providing hospital-level care in the comfort of patients’ homes, a concept that gained significant traction during the pandemic.

With a combined presence across 50 major metropolitan areas and partnerships with nearly 40 health systems, as well as major health plans and value-based care entities, the merged entity aims to set a new standard for high-acuity care at home.

Driving Healthcare Transformation

Dr. Mark Prather, DispatchHealth’s co-founder and executive chair of the board, expressed optimism about the merger, stating, “This merger unlocks a future where high-acuity care at home is the new standard. We’re combining decades of expertise to create a seamless, scalable model for hospital-level care at home—bringing the right care to the right place at the right time for more people.”

Both companies have shown remarkable growth in recent years. Medically Home, established in 2016, has facilitated hospital care at home for over 54,000 patients across 20 healthcare systems. On the other hand, DispatchHealth, founded in 2013, has treated over 1.2 million individuals in more than 20 states, resulting in significant cost savings and improved patient outcomes.

Empowering Patients and Providers

Graham Barnes, CEO of Medically Home, highlighted the significance of the merger, stating, “For many patients, the best hospital bed is the one at home. By joining forces with DispatchHealth, we’re creating a stronger, more integrated model that will enable more patients, providers, and health systems to embrace high-acuity home-based care with confidence.”

As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, collaborations like the one between DispatchHealth and Medically Home pave the way for a future where advanced medical care is seamlessly delivered to patients in the comfort of their own homes.
