Hosting SNL After 20 Years Giving Him ‘Night Terrors’

Jack Black to Host “Saturday Night Live” After Nearly 20 Years
Jack Black is gearing up to host “Saturday Night Live” for the first time in almost two decades on April 5, and the anticipation is keeping him up at night. The actor, comedian, and musician recently made a stop in London for the premiere of “A Minecraft Movie” before diving into the “SNL” writer’s room this week. In an interview with Variety, Black expressed his excitement at returning to Studio 8H after his last hosting stint in 2005 to promote “King Kong.”
Preparing for the show, Black humorously shared, “Just you know, having lots of nightmares and night terrors and also fond memories flooding back. It’s crazy, very exciting.” As is customary on the fast-paced show, Black mentioned that he has no idea where the sketches will take him, adding to the thrill of the experience.
Despite the uncertainty, Black expressed his admiration for the current “SNL” cast, affectionately referring to them as “kids.” He reminisced about his previous hosting experiences on the show and teased the audience with his upcoming project, “A Minecraft Movie,” set to hit theaters on April 4.
In the film, Black portrays expert crafter Steve who embarks on a journey with a group of misfits into the video game’s Overworld. Drawing on his own gaming experiences, Black revealed his familiarity with the Minecraft universe, adding a personal touch to his role.
Not only does Black showcase his acting skills in the movie, but he also lends his musical talents by performing the original song “I Feel Alive,” co-written with Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. The track features Dave Grohl on drums, adding a dynamic element to the film’s soundtrack.
With his return to “SNL” and the upcoming release of “A Minecraft Movie,” Jack Black is set to captivate audiences with his comedic charm and versatile talents. Don’t miss the premiere of “A Minecraft Movie” in theaters on April 4, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures.
