Houston shoe boutique creates new Nike Air Force 1 design
The owner of the Houston shoe boutique Premium Goods, Jennifer Ford, has linked up with Nike, the world’s largest athletic apparel company, to deliver a high-fashion version of the iconic Air Force 1 shoe. Vogue magazine reports that Ford became the only Black female entrepreneur to own a sneaker retail store in the country when she opened in 2004. Ford named the shoes after her daughter Sophia and niece Bella, who inspire her designs.
Sharing how amazing it feels to partner on a design with a powerhouse brand like Nike, Ford rolled out the details of the new project. “I am so grateful for the 18 years that Premium Goods has been open, and I’m excited for the future ahead of us,” Ford said as she reflected on her transition. I’m so happy to be seen as an influencer in this industry.
Quilted exteriors on the two shoe designs highlight Ford’s personal style. The infamous Nike check is outlined with subtle colored beads. This was done to compliment Ford’s love for jewelry, as she designs accessories as a hobby. Vogue reports that Ford was able to utilize her artistic skills to create a unique design. ”
I never get the time to use or develop my artistic side. I knew I was fully capable of doing it, but now seeing this creation I made, I am even more confident. She said that it is every sneaker owner’s dream.
