JID Takes it Back to “2007” on Scrapped ‘The Forever Story’ Outro

[ad_1]

With a week to go before JID releases The Forever Story, the Atlanta emcee has decided to share a song that didn’t make the final cut. Although, if the dominos were to have fallen the right way, it would have actually been the outro. Taking it back to “2007,” this is the coming-of-age story of Destin Choice Route.

“As we draw near to The Forever Story, I wanna give insight on the the process of trying to put together a solid body of work,” JID says. “Initially I wanted to create an album that serves as an origin story and speaks to who I am and what I came from. This song has been in the works for 2 years and supposed to be the outdo on the album. Things didn’t work out but this story is too pertinent to the picture we want to paint. This has been the heaviest project in my vulnerability that came in the midst of creation.”

From his football scholarship days to to early work with Dreamville, tour life with Ab-Soul, and plenty more, JID even revealed he almost signed to QC before J. Cole made it official.

Produced by Latrell James, Groove and Christo, the song also features some words from Cole, JID’s father, and Dreamville president, Ibrahim Hamad.

Check it out below, run back “Dance Now” and Surround Sound,” and be sure to check back August 26th for the highly-anticipated drop. Pre-orders are available now.
