Kamala Harris Clinches Democratic Nomination, Sets Sights on 2024 Election
Vice President Kamala Harris will be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
As of Monday, she secured more than the minimum number of delegates needed to appear at the top of the ticket and challenge former President Donald Trump in the November 2024 election.
Harris made the announcement at her first campaign event Tuesday in West Allis, WI, before a crowd of thousands.
During her time at the podium, Harris stressed the differences between her record and Trump’s but wanted to focus more on the work she does and will continue doing for the American people.
“This isn’t about us vs. Trump, this is about who we fight for,” she said. “While Donald Trump is trading access for contributions, we are running a people-powered campaign, and this will be a people-powered presidency.”
