The LeBron James Family Foundation recently marked a significant achievement with the inauguration of the I PROMISE Housing development, an initiative aimed at addressing housing affordability in Akron, Ohio.

As per a report by News 5 Cleveland, the development comprises a 50-unit building, which includes two, three, and four-bedroom apartments. These accommodations are equipped with cutting-edge amenities such as fiber-optic Wi-Fi, community spaces, and fitness facilities. Notably, specific units have been thoughtfully designed to cater to those with mobility and sensory requirements.

Dan DeVille, Vice Chair of the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation, expressed his views on the initiative to News 5 Cleveland, “A quality living environment nurtures better academic performance in young individuals and enables them to become responsible citizens in our community.”

Founded in 2004, the LeBron James Family Foundation has had a substantial impact on the Akron area, reaching over 1,400 students. The foundation offers a suite of support services, including educational programs and mentorship, to empower these students to excel in school and beyond.

LJFF’s We Are Family Coach, Willie McGee, summed up their mission eloquently in his remarks to News 5 Cleveland, “Our goal is to support the community in every way possible, filling gaps and acting as a unifying force.” The foundation aims to provide a secure place residents can call home, a place where they can enjoy a warm meal and get a good night’s rest. And it appears they are meeting this target impressively.
