‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel Series ‘Elle’ Casts Tom Everett Scott

Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “Legally Blonde” prequel has made an exciting casting announcement, adding Tom Everett Scott as a series regular. Scott will join series lead Lexi Minetree and June Diane Raphael in the highly anticipated show.
In the prequel, which will focus on Elle Woods (played by Minetree) during her high school years, Scott will portray Wyatt, Elle’s father, while Raphael will take on the role of Eva, Elle’s mother. This casting news comes as a welcome addition to the project, as Scott is already familiar to Prime Video viewers for his role in the YA series “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
Scott’s impressive resume includes appearances in popular shows like “I’m Sorry,” “13 Reasons Why,” “Southland,” “Scream,” and “Reign.” He first gained recognition for his role in the cult classic film “That Thing You Do” and has since starred in a number of successful films such as “Dead Man on Campus,” “Boiler Room,” “La La Land,” and “Clouds.”
The “Elle” prequel was greenlit by Amazon in May 2024, with Laura Kittrell serving as creator and co-showrunner alongside Caroline Dries. Executive producers include Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter of Hello Sunshine, as well as Marc Platt. Jason Moore is set to direct the first two episodes of the series, which will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
The original “Legally Blonde” film, released in 2001, was a box office hit, grossing over $140 million worldwide. It was followed by a sequel, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde,” in 2003, and a third film in 2009. A stage musical adaptation of the first film premiered on Broadway in 2007, receiving multiple Tony and Drama Desk nominations.
With Scott’s addition to the cast and a talented team behind the scenes, the “Legally Blonde” prequel is shaping up to be a must-watch series for fans of the iconic franchise. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project from Amazon Prime Video.
