Millions without power as outages hit Spain, Portugal and parts of France, Spanish officials say

The power grid in Spain, Portugal, and parts of France experienced a major outage on Monday, leaving millions of people without electricity. The Spanish government confirmed the issue and immediately called for an emergency crisis meeting to address the situation.
Red Eléctrica, the company responsible for operating the national electricity grid in Spain, assured the public that they were working diligently to restore power to the affected areas. They stated that electricity should be fully restored within six to 10 hours, with some regions already beginning to receive power.
In the meantime, authorities urged residents to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travel. Emergency generators were being deployed to provide temporary power while the main grid was being repaired.
Red Eléctrica announced that they were collaborating with industry partners to investigate the cause of the outage and expedite the restoration process. Plans were in place to address the issue and restore power as quickly as possible.
Despite the power outage, airports in the region remained open, but significant delays and cancellations were reported. Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport experienced the most disruptions, followed closely by Barcelona-El Prat Airport and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for the latest developments on this widespread power outage affecting multiple countries in Europe.
