Mother of 3 killed newborn clinging to life
A newborn baby is “fighting for his life” after being born into a murder scene. The boy’s father allegedly shot his mother, who was nine months pregnant, over the weekend.
Kyla O’Neal was found by Minnesota law enforcement on January 8 in her car, which was parked at an Amazon fulfillment center warehouse. The pregnant mother was found around 7 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound and barely clinging to life. The 31-year-old was rushed to the hospital by the Lakeville Police Department, but sadly she succumbed to her injuries.
Just weeks before his due date, the baby was delivered at Hennepin County Medical Center the night of the tragic shooting, according to the LPD’s press release. “Kyla’s mother, Katina O’Neal, spoke to CBS News and updated everyone on the condition of her grandson, which she described as ‘critical’,”

He has no brain functioning right now because he lost a lot of oxygen to the brain. I am clinging to my faith. I am praying. “I hope God gives him to me because He got the last word.”
That is so heartbreaking. She added that she needs him to pull through this.
Donte Raphael McCray, 32, has been named as the suspect by the LPD in the case of the shooting. The mother’s body was discovered at the Amazon facility where he was also identified as an employee. The outlet was told by Kyla’s mother that her daughter had recently broken up with McCray at the time of her death.

What happened to her was undeserved. Her future was promising.
Samantha Scott, the victim’s sister, opened a GoFundMe to help pay for the final expenses as well as the care of her orphaned children. She revealed that the mother is leaving behind three other children aside from her newborn son.
My sister Kyla, who was 31 years old and 9 months pregnant, lost her life to gun violence at the hands of her child’s father in Lakeville, Minnesota on January 8, 2023. Her newborn nephew was forced to be delivered but is fighting for his life. She leaves behind 4 children ages 10, 7, 2, and her new born.
Samantha asked for prayers for her family, especially her nephew.

The gruesome scene was alerted to officers by a 911 call which police believe McCray was with his ex at the time of. According to local news sources, he was not allowed to possess firearms due to a previous criminal conviction. The man has been arrested for his involvement in a fatal shooting and is currently being held at the Dakota County Jail.
Kyla’s loved ones are in our hearts. We hope her baby makes a full recovery and that her family gets the justice they deserve.
