NYC helicopter tour CEO Michael Roth says pilot called in for gas before Hudson River helicopter crash

The tragic helicopter crash in New York City has left the entire community in shock and mourning. The owner of the NYC helicopter tour company, Michael Roth, revealed that the doomed chopper was en route back to base to refuel before crashing into the Hudson River, claiming the lives of all six onboard, including a family of five.
Roth disclosed that the pilot had radioed about needing more fuel just minutes before the tourist chopper plunged into the murky waters. The pilot had indicated that he was landing and needed fuel, which should have taken him about three minutes to arrive. However, 20 minutes later, there was no sign of the helicopter.
The five passengers onboard the helicopter have been identified as a family from Spain who were visiting New York City on vacation. Agustin Escobar, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three children tragically lost their lives in the crash, along with an unidentified pilot.
Escobar, the Global CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility, and his wife, who worked as a global commercialization manager for Siemens Energy, were well-respected professionals in their fields. The devastating loss of such a talented and loving family has left a void in the hearts of many.
The helicopter crash occurred over the waterway separating New York and New Jersey, with witnesses describing a “boom sound” at the moment of impact. The Bell 206 Chopper split in half as it plummeted into the Hudson River, with the fuselage landing upside down and the propellers spinning out of control into the water.
As officials begin investigating the cause of the crash, the debris field is being cleared out of the river. Dive operations will resume to recover additional parts of the wreckage, as the mangled body of the sightseeing helicopter was lifted out of the cold waters late Thursday night.
The entire community is reeling from the tragic loss of life in this devastating helicopter crash. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy.
