NYC man shot, killed by scooter-riding gunman in Brooklyn: Police

A tragic incident occurred in Brighton Beach as a scooter-riding gunman fatally shot a family man known for being a loving uncle. The victim, Elijah Scott, 45, was gunned down near his home on Brighton 12th Street around 10 p.m. on Friday, succumbing to multiple gunshot wounds.

Described by his sister, Ebony Scott, as someone who spoiled his nieces, nephews, and mother, Elijah was a devoted family man who would do anything for his loved ones. He was known for always being there for those in need and had a heart of gold.

Despite being rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, Elijah could not be saved. The shooter, who was riding a black electric scooter, fled the scene after the attack. It remains unclear whether the shots were fired while in motion or if the assailant stopped before opening fire.

The tragic incident is currently under investigation by the police. In the aftermath of the shooting, friends of Elijah set up a memorial with candles to honor his memory. Described as having a great heart and a caring nature, Elijah was someone who would intervene in difficult situations to help others.

While Elijah had a history of five prior arrests, including one in 2023 for criminal possession of a weapon, those who knew him remember him for his kindness and willingness to assist those in need. The shooter, described as wearing a baseball cap, black jacket, and gray hooded sweatshirt, remains at large.

Evidence markers were found at the scene, indicating that ballistics were recovered for further investigation. The community is left mourning the loss of a beloved family man, with no further information immediately available about the perpetrator or motive behind the senseless act of violence.
