NYC to be hit with heavy rain, 50 mph winds

Severe weather is expected to hit New York on Sunday afternoon, with heavy rain and strong winds of up to 50 miles per hour in the forecast. According to Fox Weather meteorologist Cody Braud, the city could see an inch or two of rain along with gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour, increasing to 50 miles per hour closer to the coast. A wind advisory may be issued for the area as the storm approaches.

The rain is expected to start around 3 or 4 p.m. on Sunday and could persist until Monday morning, with a secondary wave of showers expected during the nighttime hours. This storm comes on the heels of deadly tornadoes that have swept through the South and Midwest, claiming the lives of 16 people.

Rainfall amounts could reach up to 2 inches in some areas, posing potential risks for flooding and hazardous travel conditions.

It is important for residents to stay informed about the weather conditions and to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this severe weather event. Stay tuned to local weather updates and be prepared for potential power outages and transportation disruptions.
