Thousands of Metro Denver Customers Without Power Due to High Winds
More than 8,000 metro Denver customers were left without power on Tuesday night as strong winds, rain, and snow hit the Front Range area.
Wind gusts reaching between 40 and 50 mph were recorded across the metro area by 9 p.m., as reported by the National Weather Service.
Xcel Energy was working to address 33 outages affecting nearly 5,000 individuals in areas such as Arvada, Lakewood, Aurora, Westminster, and Thornton, according to the company’s outage map.
CORE Electric Cooperative also reported power outages impacting around 1,811 people in Douglas County, 1,125 in Elbert County, and approximately 400 in both Arapahoe and Adams counties.
