Prom dress heist ends in violent brawl outside Georgia gas station as victim flips, body slams suspect after chokehold

Prom Dress Sale Turns into Gas Station Brawl in Georgia

A prom dress sale took a violent turn at a RaceTrac gas station in Gwinnett County, Georgia, when an 18-year-old girl was attacked by her former friend and two accomplices. The incident, which occurred on February 26, involved the victim meeting her friend, Morgan Flinchum, 20, to sell her a prom dress that originally belonged to Flinchum.

The victim’s mother had helped pay for the dress, so Flinchum contacted her to buy it outright. However, things quickly escalated when Flinchum, along with her friend, snatched the dress away from the victim in the gas station’s bathroom. A struggle ensued, and the victim’s boyfriend intervened to retrieve the dress, but the situation only worsened.

Surveillance footage captured the violent altercation that followed, with one of the assailants putting the victim in a chokehold. Remarkably, the victim managed to flip her attacker over her back and body-slam her onto the pavement. Gwinnett County Police responded to the scene and reviewed the footage, leading to the arrests of Flinchum, Kaylee George, and Lelia DeJager.

Flinchum and DeJager were charged with battery and theft by taking, while George was charged with theft by taking. Cpl. Juan Madiedo of the Gwinnett County Police expressed surprise at the incident, stating that arguments over prom dresses are not typical cases they investigate. He emphasized the importance of conducting person-to-person sales in public places with surveillance cameras.

In response to the altercation, the Gwinnett County Police highlighted the significance of using designated e-commerce parking spots for safe transactions. These locations are monitored by video to ensure the safety of buyers and sellers during exchanges. Madiedo encouraged citizens to utilize these designated spots for online transactions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
