In a significant development for the Houston Texans, the team has reportedly come to an agreement with their No. 2 overall pick, C.J. Stroud, on a fully guaranteed rookie contract worth $36.3 million over four years. The deal was finalized on Monday and includes a substantial signing bonus of $23.38 million, which Stroud will receive upfront, as per multiple reports.

The young quarterback’s contract comes close on the heels of No. 1 overall pick, Bryce Young, signing with the Carolina Panthers. Young’s rookie deal is valued at $37.95 million, with an impressive signing bonus of $24.6 million.

C.J. Stroud, who stood out in the 2022 college football season, finished an impressive third in the Heisman Trophy voting. Playing for Ohio State, he showcased his skills by passing for 3,688 yards and delivering an impressive 41 touchdowns, all while maintaining a remarkable record of just six interceptions across 13 games.

Now, Stroud faces an exciting challenge as he joins the Texans’ roster and prepares to compete for the coveted QB1 role. Davis Mills, the incumbent starter, will be his primary competition during training camp, set to open on Wednesday. Texans fans eagerly await the outcome of this quarterback battle, hoping it will provide the spark needed to propel the team to new heights in the upcoming season.
