R. Kelly has been moved to a federal facility in North Carolina
R. Kelly, who was convicted of child pornography, racketeering, and sex trafficking, has been transferred from a prison in Chicago to a federal facility in North Carolina. This move was reported by AP, which stated that Kelly will serve his sentence in Butner, North Carolina, where he will be housed in the same medical center as the “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski, and where Bernie Madoff was previously held. Kelly was sentenced to 20 years in prison for producing child pornography and enticing minors to engage in sexual activity, as well as 30 years for racketeering and sex trafficking, for establishing a network of individuals to exploit young women, boys, and girls. Recently, Kelly’s attorneys filed an appeal to his federal racketeering conviction. Kelly has repeatedly maintained his innocence, and he became emotional during an interview with Gayle King in 2019, during which he vehemently denied the accusations against him.
