Samourai Wallet Developers Appear Together In Court At Fourth Pre-Trial Hearing

The fourth pre-trial hearing for the United States’ case against the Samourai Wallet developers, Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, took place in the Southern District of New York today. This marked only the second time that the two developers appeared together in public since the previous status conference on September 17, 2024.

Today’s hearing was relatively short and less substantive compared to the previous pre-trial hearings. During the hearing, the prosecution and defense worked together to establish a pre-trial motion schedule. The agreed upon schedule is as follows:

– May 9, 2025 — Opening motion
– June 6, 2025 — Prosecution’s response to the opening motion
– June 20, 2025 — Replies to the prosecution’s response

In addition, expert disclosure deadlines were set. The prosecution is expected to provide its expert disclosure by July 15, 2025, while the defense must provide theirs by August 8, 2025. There may be further expert disclosures allowed on July 16, 2025, during the next in-person pre-trial hearing.

During the hearing, Hill’s attorney requested that Hill be excused from future pre-trial hearings due to his residence in Lisbon, Portugal, and the financial burden of traveling to New York City. Judge Richard Berman approved this request, stating that he saw no issue with Hill’s absence.

After the hearing, Rodriguez expressed gratitude to those who have donated to the Peer-to-Peer Rights Fund, which supports the legal defense of the developers. Donations to the fund are still being accepted for those interested in contributing.

The trial is scheduled to commence on November 3, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the legal proceedings against the Samourai Wallet developers. Stay tuned for further updates as the case progresses.
