Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Leak Confirms Classic Model Return

Fresh leaks have surfaced regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 smartwatch, suggesting that Samsung is expanding its range of wearable devices.
While an official announcement for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is still several months away, it is expected to be unveiled alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The latest leaks provide some concrete details about Samsung’s next wearable offering, hinting at what consumers can expect from the new range.
Two Galaxy Watch 8 models spotted
According to reports from Xpertpick, batteries believed to be intended for the Galaxy Watch 8 series have been spotted in certification at SafetyKorea, a safety and compliance organization based in South Korea. These batteries, codenamed EB-BL330ABY and EB-BL505ABY, are likely for two distinct devices: the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
Interestingly, Samsung did not release a Galaxy Watch 7 Classic, making this a welcome addition to the lineup. The leaked screenshot reveals that the EB-BL330ABY battery has a typical capacity of 435 mAh, slightly larger than the 425 mAh battery found in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.
Additionally, the Watch 8 Classic has been listed on the Bluetooth SIG site with a model number of ‘SM-L505U.’ While there is speculation that this model may actually be the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, the name clearly indicates that it is the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
Galaxy Watch 8 firmware out in the wild
In addition to the battery leaks, details of the firmware for the Galaxy Watch 8 have also surfaced. Twitter tipster Theordysm shared information about six variants of the firmware, which seem to correspond to different models of the upcoming wearable.
The SM-L320, SM-L325U, SM-L330, and SM-L335U variants are likely different sizes and versions of the Galaxy Watch 8, while the SM-L500 and SM-L505 could be related to the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, based on previous mentions in the GSMA database.
Fans of the Galaxy Watch 7 are eager to see the return of the Classic model and hope for a slimmer case design. It is also anticipated that the advanced health features of the Galaxy Watch 8 will be fully functional even without a Samsung phone connected.
