Ten30 Pictures’ Head on Netflix Series ‘GO!,’ Building ‘A24 of Africa’

South African producer Kutlwano Ditsele’s Ten30 Pictures is making waves in the entertainment industry with a slate of projects set to follow the release of the Netflix original series “GO!” on March 21. In an interview with Variety in Johannesburg, Ditsele shared his vision for Ten30, aiming to establish it as “the A24 of Africa.”

The series, “GO!”, follows the story of Siya “Bolt” Gumede, played by Thandolwethu Zondi, a talented sprinter who receives a life-changing scholarship to a prestigious school in Johannesburg. Created by Ditsele and head writer Thuli Zuma, known for her work on the hit Showmax original “The Wife,” the show is already garnering attention. Directed by Tristan Holmes, an Academy Award winner for his student film “Elalini,” the series marks Ditsele’s return to television after a brief hiatus.

Ditsele’s approach to production differs from traditional models prevalent in the South African industry. Instead of relying solely on commissioning from broadcasters or streaming platforms, he sought private investors to maintain ownership and creative control over his projects. The success of “GO!” in securing a deal with Netflix has paved the way for Ten30 to pursue a 250 million rand ($13.7 million) funding round to expand its operations.

Among the projects in development at Ten30 is the medical drama “Clinical,” exploring the lives of young interns in a prestigious public hospital, and the road drama “Imbali ne iNkabi,” a tale of romance and redemption centered around a contract killer. Additionally, a second season of “GO!” is in the works as the company aims to build a diverse catalog of 30 titles over the next decade.

Ditsele’s collaboration with U.S. studios on a “massive show” highlights his ambition to work on a global scale and tap into larger resources. While he acknowledges the challenges of competing in the Hollywood system, he views it as an opportunity to create on a grander scale and reach a broader audience.

As Ten30 continues to make its mark in the industry, Ditsele remains focused on taking risks and producing exceptional work. With projects like “GO!” setting the bar high, he is confident in the company’s ability to deliver groundbreaking content. The success of the series is a testament to Ten30’s potential, and Ditsele is determined to push boundaries and explore new creative horizons.

The Joburg Film Festival, running from March 11 to 16, provides a platform for emerging talent and industry professionals to showcase their work and engage with audiences. As Ten30 Pictures continues to expand its influence, audiences can expect more innovative and compelling projects to come from this dynamic production company. The world of technology is constantly evolving and changing, with new advancements and innovations being made every day. One such advancement that has been gaining a lot of attention recently is the development of artificial intelligence (AI). AI is a branch of computer science that aims to create intelligent machines that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as speech recognition, decision-making, and problem-solving.

One of the most exciting applications of AI is in the field of robotics. Robotic technology has advanced significantly in recent years, with robots becoming more sophisticated and capable of performing a wide range of tasks. AI has played a significant role in this advancement, enabling robots to learn from their experiences and adapt to new situations.

One of the key benefits of AI-powered robots is their ability to work alongside humans in various industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, and agriculture. For example, in manufacturing, robots can help automate repetitive tasks, freeing up human workers to focus on more complex and creative tasks. In healthcare, robots can assist doctors and nurses in providing care to patients, such as monitoring vital signs or assisting with surgeries. In agriculture, robots can help farmers with tasks such as planting, harvesting, and monitoring crops.

AI-powered robots are also being used in disaster response and search and rescue missions. These robots can navigate through hazardous environments, such as collapsed buildings or contaminated areas, to locate and rescue survivors. They can also be equipped with sensors and cameras to gather important data and provide valuable insights to rescue teams.

However, the development of AI-powered robots also raises important ethical and societal considerations. For example, there are concerns about job displacement, as robots become more capable of performing tasks that were previously done by humans. There are also concerns about privacy and security, as AI-powered robots may have access to sensitive data and information.

Overall, the development of AI-powered robots has the potential to revolutionize industries and improve the way we live and work. As technology continues to advance, it is important to consider the ethical, social, and economic implications of AI-powered robots and ensure that they are used responsibly and ethically. With the right approach, AI-powered robots have the potential to bring about positive change and improve the quality of life for people around the world.
