Tiger Woods’ Mother, Kultida Woods, Passes Away at 80: ‘She Was My Biggest Fan’

Golf legend Tiger Woods is mourning the loss of his mother, Kultida Woods, who passed away at the age of 80. A pillar of strength throughout his career, Kultida was often seen supporting her son at tournaments and was known for her unwavering belief in his talent.

“She was my biggest fan,” Woods said in a statement. “Her love, resilience, and support shaped me into the man and athlete I am today.”

Born in Thailand, Kultida Punsawad Woods met Earl Woods, Tiger’s father, while he was stationed there with the U.S. Army. The couple married in 1969 and later moved to the United States, where they raised Tiger in Cypress, California. While Earl, who passed away in 2006, was instrumental in coaching Tiger in golf, Kultida instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, focus, and cultural pride.

Kultida remained a private but powerful presence in Tiger’s life. She was frequently seen following his tournaments, standing quietly among the crowds, offering rare but heartfelt interviews praising his work ethic and determination.

Woods’ relationship with his mother was well-documented. In past interviews, he credited her for keeping him grounded through both triumphs and controversies. “My mom is tough. Very tough. She’s been through a lot in her life, and she’s always taught me to persevere,” he once shared.

As the golf world mourns alongside Woods, tributes continue to pour in from fans, athletes, and those who knew Kultida personally. Many have highlighted her resilience as an immigrant mother, her deep love for her son, and the immense role she played in shaping one of the greatest golfers of all time.

A private funeral service is expected to be held in the coming days
