Top Democrats Blasts The Idea That Democrats Should Keep The Government Open For Republicans

PoliticusUSA is a platform that prides itself on being ad-free and impartial, refusing to yield to any interest group or party. The media often holds Democrats responsible for governing, even when Republicans hold the majority in government. This false notion is perpetuated by both the media and Republicans themselves.

During a recent House Rules Committee meeting, Rep. Jim McGovern addressed this double standard, pointing out that Republicans are in control of the House, Senate, and White House. He emphasized that it is ridiculous to expect Democrats to pass legislation without any input, especially when Republicans have the power to do so themselves.

It is absurd that Republicans are able to be in charge without being held accountable for their actions or inactions. Democrats must hold House Republicans accountable for the damage they cause by neglecting to pass crucial legislation, such as the continuing resolution to keep the government open.

If Republicans truly want to pass the CR, they have the ability to do so without Democratic assistance. The double standard of expecting Democrats to govern while Republicans hold the majority must be challenged and changed.
