Trump will hold a rally in Michigan next week to mark his first 100 days in office

President Donald Trump is gearing up to celebrate his first 100 days back in office with a rally in Michigan next week. The rally will take place in Macomb County, known for its automotive industry, just north of Detroit.
Trump’s visit to Michigan comes as he approaches the traditional milestone of his first 100 days in office, a period during which a president’s progress is measured against campaign promises. Michigan played a crucial role in Trump’s victory in the 2020 election, as he flipped key battleground states like Michigan from Democrats on his path back to the White House.
This rally will be Trump’s first official trip in his second term, as he has mostly stayed close to the White House since taking office. His only other official trip was during the first week, when he visited disaster zones in North Carolina and California and held an event in Las Vegas to promote his plan to eliminate taxes on tips.
Trump’s upcoming trip to Michigan follows a series of meetings and phone calls with the state’s Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer. Despite being a sharp critic of Trump in the past, Whitmer has expressed a desire to find common ground with the president in his second term.
One area of potential cooperation that Whitmer has highlighted is Selfridge Air National Guard Base, located in Macomb County. The base is a concern for Whitmer and Michigan lawmakers as the A-10 aircraft stationed there are phased out. Trump mentioned Selfridge during an executive order signing in April, expressing his commitment to keeping the base open and thriving.
Whitmer has long advocated for a new fighter mission to replace the outgoing A-10 squadron at Selfridge. In a letter to the secretary of the Air Force during President Biden’s administration, Whitmer emphasized the importance of a fighter mission at Selfridge for the state of Michigan, the Air Force, and the nation.
As Trump prepares to mark his first 100 days in office with a rally in Michigan, the event is expected to draw attention to his administration’s accomplishments and priorities for the future. Stay tuned for more updates on Trump’s visit to Michigan and his plans for the remainder of his second term.
