Vanessa Bayer Joins ‘Everybody’s Live’ As Netflix’s AI Assistant

Vanessa Bayer, known for her time on “Saturday Night Live,” surprised viewers during a recent episode of “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney” by appearing as Netflix’s new AI assistant. In a comedic skit during the show, Bayer introduced herself as Jerica, the Netflix AI executive assistant, with a deadpan smile and robotic demeanor.

During the skit, Jerica hilariously pointed out the viewer’s recent viewing habits, including watching a mix of good and bad stand-up specials, series featuring various types of main characters, and a range of different genres. She then went on to suggest some rather unconventional viewing options based on the viewer’s “complex viewing habits,” such as a documentary about a quirky Furby collector who discovers he is gay, or an eating show featuring petite bald twins in the real estate industry.

The bit continued with Jerica offering to help the viewer find a show that fits their specific preferences, jokingly saying, “Tell me where you would like to begin simply by saying something like, ‘Jerica, do you have anything that’s set in the South but also somehow Korean?’ It’s as easy as that!”

This humorous take on Netflix’s algorithmic suggestions was not the only jab at the streaming giant during the episode. Host John Mulaney also poked fun at Netflix’s top 10 rankings, joking that his show was ranking alongside a Latino culture clash sitcom, a true crime documentary, a Tyler Perry soap opera, and “Temptation Island.” Mulaney quipped, “Netflix viewers have spoken loud and clear and they are saying, ‘We will watch whatever you show us.'”

The playful banter and comedic skits during the episode added to the entertainment value of “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney,” showcasing the talents of Vanessa Bayer and the comedic genius of the show’s host. The episode left viewers laughing and eager for more unexpected surprises in future episodes.
