This momentous week showcased her commitment to these issues and their impact on the continent.
The continent of Africa has been officially visited by Vice President Kamala Harris. The current President of America is a female who is of Black and south Asian descent. She is currently in Accra, Ghana, and is expected to visit Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Lusaka, Zambia, later in the week.

Harris has already made history, but she is now furthering her impact by becoming the first female, Black, and South Asian sitting Vice President to ever visit the continent.
Harris is honoring President Joe Biden’s promise to visit the continent, along with members of his cabinet, this year. This comes after hosting African leaders in December 2022 for a U.S.-Africa summit, during which the administration pledged billions of dollars in investments for the region.
The trip in Ghana, West Africa, is designed to cover various topics and themes every day. It is anticipated that the youth of Ghana will be addressed with a significant speech from Vice President Harris on Tuesday. On that very day, Harris intends to pay a visit to the Cape Coast slave castle where she plans to address the barbarity of slavery and its effect on the African diaspora.

According to Crump, there will be a lavish dinner hosted by the president of Ghana for the U.S. vice president on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a roundtable of women entrepreneurs will be assembled by Harris for discussion, putting the spotlight on women. The digital gender gap can be bridged by a range of public and private sector investments focused on entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, which will serve as the foundation for an upcoming initiative across the continent.

Harris’ agenda regarding women and economics is currently being celebrated, with emphasis placed on upcoming topics and events. Idris Elba, an actor with Sierra Leonean and Ghanaian heritage, described Kamala Harris’ visit as significant due to her immense influence and respect amongst powerful women in Africa. In my opinion, the trip will be a fantastic experience for her.

The Vice President is scheduled to visit Tanzania on Thursday. During her trip, she will hold talks with the President of Tanzania and attend a ceremony to place a wreath in memory of the 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in the country.
Harris is embarking on a trip to Zambia where he will be concentrating on climate change, business, and food security, starting on Friday and continuing throughout the remainder of the trip.
