White students in blackface expelled from Catholic high school in Philadelphia
The Catholic high school in Philadelphia has stated that the students responsible for a racist video, which depicted teenage white girls in blackface, are no longer part of their school community.
According to CNN, earlier this month a video appeared on social media showing one student at St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls covering the face of another student with black spray paint while making racial remarks.
St.Hubert Catholic High School For Girls officials shared in a statement Saturday that the young women responsible for this situation had been identified and were no longer members of the school community, CNN reported.
The school announced that it would have conversations with all its students regarding its future plans for “safety and healing”.

In the video, a girl can reportedly be heard saying, “You’re a Black girl!” Recognize your roots! It is February! She was spray-painting another girl’s face black, all while saying, “You’re nothing but a slave…and after this, she’s doing my laundry.” You can hear laughter as one person records the moment on their phone while it’s happening.
According to CNN, the student with the blackface on responded, “I’m Black and I’m proud.”
When asked about the video’s alleged distribution to Black students, Kenneth Gavin, the chief communications officer for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, believed people shared it on social media.
The video appears to have been taken outside of a school and after school hours. The Catholic school denounced the behavior as “repugnant,” and the Anti-Defamation League would be hosting anti-bias seminars for their staff, faculty, and administration on Feb. 20, yet still.
